Crispy Homemade Waffles Recipe

I am obsessed with waffles and have been looking for a light and addicting recipe for the longest time. I found this one in the notes of an old cooking book I own. I love my Pumpkin Spice Waffles recipe but it’s seasonal and I wanted something that I could whip up on a daily base. This recipe is super simple and quick to make.

It makes about ten waffles, it’ll depend on your waffle iron size!


Waffle iron
Non-stick cooking spray


1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt
2 cup milk (2%, almond, soy or else)
2/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract


1. In a large bowl, whisk the dry ingredients together, set aside. * The cornstarch is what will make your waffles crispy on the outside.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk the wet ingredients and add them to the dry ingredients. Do not overmix. As soon as everything is incorporated, you should stop mixing.

3. Youtube has taught me that setting the batter aside for approximately 15 minutes allows the baking powder to do its thing and activate.

4. Make your waffles, add some toppings and enjoy!
